I knew that my pump was going out due to hard starting and hesitation upon take-off. I got my 155lph in and started at 6:20 and got done at 8:30. Not bad for someone who didn't know what they where getting into :) . I used the write-up from shotimes but was confused on how the tank dropped down and other details. Nevertheless, I managed to get everything back right and noticed a big increase in power. But even from a dead stop, I can floor my car and still not spin my tires. When I stomp on the gas pedal, the motor revs so high but then almost pauses for half a second and then begins to pick up fast. Still no spinning the tires though, I thought that replacing the fuel pump would fix that considering my plugs and wires and O2's are new. My secondaries are working properly too. What else should I look for?

you should look for a new tranny. j/k check the fuel pressure regulator on the rail and see how many psi you are getting...

I'm sure it isn't the tranny, could be in the ignition system or maybe the valves are out of adjustment. It really doesn't matter, at least I have an easier time starting my car now and have restored some lost power. I'm just glad that replacing the pump went as easy as it did, I didn't even have to cut the metal line near the pump area, the pump fit right in where the old one was.

well its not the valves being out of adjustment. if they were out of wack they would be very noisy. plus you could still smoke your tires with them being bad the 3.2 has more that enough power to accomplish that small task. does it run rough at all? or lack of power through the rpm range?

No, it runs great, the only time I notice a little loss of power is when say the car has just shifted and I go to accelerate, it will kinda lug before downshifting. It seems that the new pump took care of some of it but like I said, when I stomp on the gas pedal from a stop, it will accelerate but not fast enough to spin the tires. But once the secondaries open, it will fly.

Jr's SHO,

Another thing that you may want to replace is Fuel filter. If clogged it will cause low end boggs a some power loss. Id replace that just to be safe. (Not to expensive and easy)

Also look for oil in your plug wells, that can cause take-off and performance issues also.

Once you get it off the line, you say its accelerating normally, and has full power?
HOw many miles on this car?

p.s. Your right, Jesus is the answer for the world today...

good luck

Fuel filter was replaced about 2 months/ 8,000 miles ago. Spark plugs, wires, and plug seals are new so no oil in wells. Once it gets over the hesitation, it will accelerate fast but it will only rev so high before it does it. No codes, I wonder maybe if it could be the TPS? I was getting good fuel pressure at the rail before I changed a pump so that should be alright. Maybe exhaust?

u might as well just change the tps, can't hurt it. a part that is under 30$ and so simple to change it is candy for the engine

Cleaning the MAF is cheap and easy. A dirty MAF can cause the problems you describe.

Have you considered that your car just may not have the power to spin the tires from a stop? The engine has little low end torque to begin with and if you have modified it, it's only worse. Did it used to spin freely?
