I have the famous oil in the plug wells and I have looked in the archives for steps to replace those gaskets. I could't find any steps. I am planning to do this soon and was wondering if one of you guys (Scott) would be will to share the basic steps and warn me of any problems or pit falls. Also, if you happen to know that part number and a good source for these gaskets.

Thanks I have a '92 MTX

When you pull the cam covers:

Vacuum the top really well. Make sure the 5mm allen is REALLY seated well in the cam cover bolts. You strip the hex socket, and you'll be cutting a nice screwdriver slot in your chrome bolts. Be sure to note where & how much RTV they used on the sharp corners. Remove all the old RTV & clean up the cam cover gaskets and inspect for nicks & seal damage (if you're re-using them). Use Sensor-Safe RTV. Don't over-torque the bolts when putting the covers back on.

While you're in there, take a minute to inspect the cam lobes. Consider doing your valve shim adjustment concurrently, if it's due soon.

Go to Autozone.com for the above mentioned gasket set. Autozone doesn't stock it in their stores. I ordered mine recently and had it 5 days later-that included ground shipping and a weekend.
