Does anyone know what our 3.4L motor flows at 7k? Also, is there a certain formula that I could use to figure out what our motors flow at a given RPM?

After talking with a forum member tonight (JVANBUREN), I came home and started doing some pondering...

If anyone could help me out, it would be MUCH appreciated!!!

Rpm x displacement (in cubic inches)

7000 x 207
_________ = 419 cfm

Now this is figuring a volumetric efficency of 100%. I really dont know what the VE of the 3400 is but I would guess about 90%. That would make the cfm 377 @ 7000 rpm with a VE of 90%.

This VE sounds pretty close. In datalogging I measured just over 26 lbs per min of air in second gear at 75mph and 6125 rpm. 26 lbs/min equates to roughly 339 cfm wich is on par for those numbers at 7000 rpm.

Stock I was seeing near 2 lbs/min less air flow at the same speed/rpm. That equates to roughly a 26 cfm improvement over stock with my in fender CIA, catless y-pipe and removed IMRC and butterflys.

That is of course if I am doing all of this math correctly, witch I think I am.

Anyway...........:nut:

Ha Ha I hit 32.5 5100 rpm......

But that could have been a spike;)

Usually I peak out around 23-24 lbs

So the reason I ask this is because I have been *seriously* debating whether or not to do a turbo set-up. I have yet to spend a lot of time looking under the car, but where would be a good place to put a remote set-up turbo? Is there room RIGHT after the y-pipe?

I am thinking something with good spool-up which will have good midrange power but still yield some on the top end as well. The turbo that I'm thining of is the TDO5h-16G (big) aka EVO III Big 16g which flows 36-40lb/min or 550cfms. I only want to run ~6-7psi of boost...
