I have a 89 SHO and my CEL light isn't coming on so I am gunna replace the bulb and hope that it is it. But what kind of bulb do I need to replace the old on. Thanks.
Although I can't find my owners manual (which pile is IT in???) I've poured through my '89 specific shop manual pair, AND have just came in from scrutinizing my own '89s dash and I'm happy/sad to say that I can neither find any mention nor evidence of a CEL on the '89.
Perhaps the '89 simply doesn't have a CEL? Once I find my owners manual (if I'm not crushed by one of my piles as I'm digging...) I'll let you know what it has on the CEL.
"...The Check Engine warning light is to the right of the steering column on the lower half of the instrument panel. It is not on the cluster.
This light comes on briefly when you turn the ignition key to on, but should turn off when the engine starts. If the light does not come on when you turn the ignition to on or if it comes on and stays on when you are driving, have your car serviced as soon as possible..."
And on page 92 of the owners guide, Check engine warning light replacement bulb is a #2162.
