I have done it and it looks really clean. I have a sony M610 with the active black panel and motorized drop down face and it just clears the bottom of the trim. The only thing you need to really worry about is the sides of the opening are wider than in the DIN slot where the radio used to be. I used zip-ties on all four corners of the mounting bracket and it's really tight, with no movement. As for the EATC moving down to the radio slot, this is where it becomes a little more difficult. The vacuum hoses and connectors will have no trouble reaching down there, but you need to place the EATC behind the trim panel if you don't want to drill it out bigger. I did this and again, it looks quite clean, but I'm not big on doing mods that can't be reversed (or at least can be seen when they are) so I put it behind. I am gonna probably post pics soon, so keep checking. Good luck.

ive done this too. its quite simple accually all ya gotta do is route all the wires to each to the opposite location which is simple as pulling them by the heating duct. You will need to buy a deck adapter for the cd player( i bought the ford one for 1979- up and also need to trim the eatc so it will fit in the cd player spot.) The only triming needed for the eatc is the two little brackets on the side of the unit. I can get some more detail pics if you need them.
