So I could have sworn I had an account here a couple years back, but I guess not.

Anyway, on to the issue. So I had my 2010 SHO (with the standard cd player unit) shipped from the States to Italy last month and when I finally get to drive it the CD/Climate control receiver unit was dead with the A/C stuck blasting 90F through the defroster vents. Now I have already looked at all the fuses and can say they are all good to go.

I then pulled apart the dash and removed the unit itself to see if something was unhooked. However, it was all good so I put it back together. I eventually had to pull the fuse for the blower motor, but that means no front wipers.

Does anyone have any suggestions or does it sound like it's just a dead unit? Also, does anyone have any links to diagrams specific to the 2010 Taurus and SHO. Having some trouble finding any good information. Not only that, but sense there are no SHO's in Europe getting parts is a little hard.

Did you disconnect the unit when you had the dash apart or just confirm that everything was connected? If you didn't disconnect the unit, try unhooking the battery for 5 minutes or so to see if that will reset the unit.

If you have a shop that you trust AND that has a professional scan tool they should be able to attempt to access the radio diagnostics and determine if the unit communicates with the CAN bus.

What types of diagrams for the 2010 SHO are you looking for, specifically?

I completely removed the unit. Had to get the part number off it as well. I have also dis-connected the battery for a good length of time.

I found a local place that has the scan tool I think I need as well as a shop that works almost exclusively on American vehicles. So we will see how that works out.

As for the diagrams, I am just looking for any online resources specific to 2010 and up SHO's. My searches have ended up with bits and pieces of info. If its just hit and miss and there is nothing, no big deal.

Taking on an Italian "persona" already? How about an exorcism!!! APIMs and CCMs are known to die in the Gen 4.1 SHOs, though why they should do so during transport is a mystery to me. There MIGHT be an extended warranty on these, but you'd have to check with Ford. Any evidence of front end impact or damage to the windshield area?

For the online manuals, have you tried Alldatadiy.com? These would be the factory service manual information available online (for a fee) and would be based on your model and year.

I would have thought some sort of "pairing" with a scan tool would have been required for the host to accept the transplant...not just plug and play due to variances in options from year to year and vehifle to vehicle...on a can bus, module addressing is very important. Full heat on defrost is a typical failsafe mode in case of control failure in sleet or snow which impaired visibilty would be a problem. If the vehicle were rejecting the transplant or vice versa, I would expect a failsafe.
