I have a sony cdx-51rf cd changer..the prob is someone tried to borrow it..and tore up the wiring real bad..as it was in the car when i bought it, i do not have the install manual..Does any one know what the yellow, red and black wires on the back of the commander are supposed to hook up to? I have every thing else figured but these 3..I assume red is power, but it only has a 1amp fuse in it, the yellow has a 3amp..black i assume is ground..
Anybody have any ideas?

Yellow might be power, and red might give power to an amp..
Don't sue me if I'm wrong, I probably am! :)
Good luck

i would assume yellow is a 12 volt constant (power), red is the accessory wire, and black is ground, but i could be wrong.

I'm guessin that red is 12 volts switched power, yellow is 12 volts constant power, and black is always ground.

hope that helps you!

I agree, I just had to remake a wireharness for one of my old sony CD headunits (the old one had a problem with some smoke and melting, long story). Anyway as far as Im concerned with sony products, yellow is a constant power wire, like what runs to your cigarette lighter, red is power on ACC wire, like what powers your headunit (ie ignition on accessory, units got power), black like it was said is always ground. I got this info from an actual sony rep, Id assume it is the same for all sony products.

Just went digging through my changer paperwork, Yellow is constant power, Red is switched, and Black is ground. I took mine out when the switches in the control head went wacky.

Black is always ground? Do you know how many red wires are in your SHO that are grounded?

That is stock wiring though, there realy is no obvious rhyme or reason for any of the colors, but aftermarket stereo wiring is allways the same.

Absolutely NOT true. Most manufacturers adhere to aftermarket guidelines, but not all are. In this case, the black wire is ground.
