Ok here is the situation the car is a 98 SHO that had the changer in the trunk. Now the changer is missing but the wiring is all still there. What are my choices to replace this do I have to buy another factory changer(if so how much are they?)or can I get an aftermarket one to hook up(I have seen some but do you still need the adapter to make them work?)

Hi, You can go either route. Factory changers pop up on ebay for various amounts. I think any aftermarket will need the wiring harness that will work with that particular changer. I believe this subject has been posted before in the Gen III section. Do a search and I think you will find more and better info, and some good web links.

I relocted my stock changer to under the passengers seat but just had a home-burned disc jam in the mechanism when the label started to peel when I tried to eject the magazine. In any case, the whole changer completely died. I replaced it with a 10 disc Kenwood KDC-C719 and a P.I.E. FRDR/PC-KNNSR control adaptor so all by controls still operate the changer all for less then $260. It even came with enough cable I could have mounted it anywhere in the car..
