Catless vs catted downpipes

Curious how many people run catless downpipes vs catted?
I realize theres a fuel smell with catless and hp gain is minimal. But im guessing spool up time is slightly quicker and the turbo sound through the exhaust is more noticeable.

Catted... While I don't have emissions testing, standard inspection looks for cats... The extra HP is not worth switching out the pipes once a year... IMHO..nor worth fabricating heat shields that look like cats..lol

Non catted. No smell at all. Def hear the turbos whistling with the windows down which is awesome. I live in S.C. No emissions testing. If we had emission testing i would have gone catted. The exaust is a little louder inside the car under hard accleration not not with normal use. Nice power gain. Not an easy install unless u have a torch.

Catted. No emissions where I live. Just didn't want the chance of smelling gas fumes and hp difference was negligible.

I've been looking at getting downpipes and installing them myself. I'm curious which one (front or rear) was more difficult to remove? I had the rear downpipe off when I replaced the rear turbo. It was a little PITA but once I got the right sockets, extension, and universal it came off easy with an impact wrench. Was the front more difficult?

Yes the rear is a bear. Installed mine myself with the car up on some ramps in the garage. Take your time, use penatrant on the studs. Front is simple. In the rear the factory studs out of the ****** of the turbo almost touches the bend in the pipe. Had to buy a full set of crows foot.

My guess would be its on a car per car basis... I have put DPs on different cars and it's not always how easy it is to access the bolts but more along the lines of how frozen the bolts are. Some unscrew easy with a little bit of elbow grease... Some just snap off.. Then you are torching or drilling out the stud.

I removed all 3 of those bolts with the socket, universal, extension, and impact. Glad to hear those are the harder ones to get at.
