Well since the weather finally has become "nice" its time to get back to making things for the ECOSHO......

First off we have made some Third cat and resonator delete pipes.
DSC01921.JPG

They take out the 3rd cat and resonator, they slightly increase sound and improve flow. Cost will be around 300.00, they are made from Stainless pipes and a stainless X pipe.. all without hurting your emissions and your ears..

Best thing about these is that I can ship them! you will have to cut your exhaust behind the resonator and weld them in, in the front they bolt up using your stock flanges and gaskets..

Catless Turbo Pipes

Now having that completed its time to open up the rest of the exhaust, there are a series of pipes, with neck downs and flat spots on the pipes. The new pipes will be made from 2.25" stainless steel, with stainless flanges and bungs. Our turbos start with a 3" exit port into the cats, they exit the cats in a 2" ****** and head back. there is one spot that I measured that is 1.75"

Its time to eliminate all of this.. You will need to buy a tuner for these pipes as the post cat 02's will need to be shut down.. and of course these pipes are for OFF ROAD USE only.

They will be made in days to follow, but here are some pics of your current exhaust..

The real question is....how much for the full exhaust + turbo pipes? I am located in Northern Virginia, so I imagine the shipping will make it worth it since I can just buy a tune from you, too.

Works & sounds Great! Have used since mid-April on my Brick... I also added flanges to the cut-off ends of stock system & the back of the new NESHO mid-pipe so I can swap back to stock mid-pipe if desired.

Based on logging, mid-pipe increases boost slightly. (1-1.5 PSI while using a 3-Bar MAPv sensor).

To EcoBrick Bob or anyone else :
Can you please tell me what a 3-Bar MAPv sensor do and how it would increase my performances with my custom exhaust (using a X-pipe)? If, like you said Bob, it increase boost by 1-1.5psi, that seems very interesting... How would that affect reliability of the car and does LMS adjust its tuning if a 3-bar is installed?
Thank you very much,
Steve

A 3 Bar MAPv sensor replaces the 2 Bar sensor at the top of the intake, nearer the drivers side. It is the identical (installed 3-bar) sensor that is located by the throttle body, but that one records Manifold Charge Temp. The MAPv records boost. The 3 bar sensor for MAPv allows you to accurately tune higher boosts than 14.7 psi. Doing this requires working with a tuner to increase boost while attempting to maintain adequate A/F - Lambda settings, MCT, correct Knock retard settings, as well as DI fuel pressure among other variables. This obviously can also be done with a dyno tune. A 3-Bar MAPv sensor needs modifications to any existing tune because it records data differently.

Additionally, one really needs a way to cool the intake charge if you raise the boost into 3 bar ranges, which is why Darreli & I have W/M systems.

Darreli and several other SHO owners have also installed more efficiient radiators that Torrie offers at his Unleashed Tuning Website, along with 3-Bar sensors. For some reason, I don't have radiator cooling issues, but I also have Carriage Works grille, which required me to cut away the shroud behind the stock grille, that blocked a substantial amount of air, in the interest of aerodynamics. Perhaps the MobSteel grille installed in as SHO would have a similar effect to somewhat help cooling.

There are lots of variables, so either you go all out, and install everything and get a dyno tune, or you add them as you learn, and tune via logging software. I am doing the latter simply because I don't have easy access to a AWD dyno.

If not done correctly it can affect reliability!!!!!

Hope I have explained this correctly...

Please feel free to correct any mistakes.

Thanks Bob, well explained and enough to convince me not to go that route... I don't want to have to refer to a tuner that doesn't know what he is doing and having to replace many parts... Maybe in the future, but so far, I will continue to exploit the car with the 2-bar...
Thanks again for having taken the time to explain.
Cheers!

At some point, once LMS has enough experience to safely sell 3 Bar mail-order tunes, I'm sure they will become available.

They are very conservative and don't want the publicity of issues.

I have been working with Torrie for months. We have done our experimentation very
slowly and deliberately. He changes only one variable at a time, with each tune. IWealso were doing much of the logging/tuning in relatively high temp/humidity conditions, which by their nature reduce power to some degree. Considering that, I may be "over-tuned" for cool dry days/nights.

I was able to run a 13.1 and some of my highest MPH ever, when it was 90 & humid, in part because my MCT temps were relatively low due to the W/M.

In those same conditions, a SHO guy, who also has a GXP (Tim Pavlik) indicated his GXP was off over a second from his times when it was cool/dry. The Brick was maybe off .2-.3 from what it could seemingly run in perfect conditions.

I'd actually love to have catless DP and put in boost activated cut-outs so that I can keep it stock/quite 99% of the time and super loud/way more power when I want it. Had that setup on my MazdaSpeed6 and it ROCKED! Scared the crap out of people at full boost, would be hilarious on the Flex

You could wire in a full throttle switch to the cutouts. My buddy has his cutouts wired that way on his Lincoln Mark 8. Insta-loud.

High time to bring this thread back from the grave....... :munch:

Any updates

I can start as early as next week for you..:) I have one set of flanges cut and need to find a water/ laser cutter that can do these reasonable.. The set I had made for me with the intention to have them installed on the car for the convention was a pipe dream with my time limitations.. they are 7/16 thick Stainless so the set I had machined up was not cheap..

Ill head up to the cutter's place tomorrow about duplicating them.

Bob? Darrell? anyone else while Im doing a run? Cost unknown but cant be that bad right?
