I had to replace my Y-pipe because a cat broke up and sent pieces through-out my exhaust. I just put more the $2,500.00 into fixing up my 95 MTX and I did not want a bad cat to ruin my progress. I wanted it fixed, and I wanted it fixed fast, so I ordered a Catco pipe/w cats, part no. 4525. It only cost $245 shipped and I received it in three days. At first I was worried about HP losses because the Y-pipe is crushed bent and the diameter of the pipe is one half inch smaller than my dynomax system. It was installed wensday and I have nothing bad to say about it. In fact, my car seems to have picked up more low end speed, and I dont notice any difference at higher RPMs. The sound is good. Not much rasp. For $245 I believe I got a great deal. Now for the test of time.

Hey David, is the pipe stainless?

No, its alumized (or how ever you spell it) The cats are, or so they seemed. Anyway, its a quick fix. If I burn up one of these cats, I am going to a catless y. Time will tell. So far they seem to be doing OK on my car.

It's an 'economy' replacement part. It will rot and it will act as a restriction in the exhaust stream.

I'd use it as a hold-over until you're ready to spring for a performance version made of SS. In other words, drive the **** out of it until it rots, then worry about it. :thumb:

I have the old shoShop Y pipe. It has a dead cat. If it is worth it, I'll have two replacement cats put on it in the spring.
