132D39AC 61CB 4CD7 BE44 92CFC95F7DEB So maybe my brain isn’t working correctly but I’m really curious if anyone knows of whether or not we can run a catch can setup from both sides of the engine on a T to the can and from the can to the air intake hose on the other side of the engine, then with the port on the actual intake just put a plug on it??? Why would this or would this not work??
From my understanding the pcv closes under boost? Is that wrong?? Or is it best to have it on the actual intake and be pulling vacuum? I get that it’s best to pull vacuum to further lower the pressure but do we need that vacuum because of the fact the the pcv is closed under boost(if that’s correct) would routing it like I was thinking cause pressure buildup and start to blow seals?
I’m attaching a pic of some horrible example of what I’m thinking lol.

Just buy a UPR and be done.

That doesn’t really answer my question tho not to be rude, I’d spend the money if I had it obviously but with what I have to work with at the moment I am trying to better understand the pcv system while figuring out a good setup....... thanks tho

You will need many. Search the forums about catch cans. There are numerous threads. By the time you try to re-invent the wheel you will have lost time and really didn't save much money to have it function properly.

I fully understand sparing yourself the cost and applaud your ambition to build the unit yourself but there is no need to reinvent the wheel. Just copy the dual valve UPR setup.

I have there’s not much of any info for my specific inquiry.
I’ve seen a few different setups, I could block the intake tube and run my current can to the rear valve cover and intake manifold but then I’d be stuck either venting the front valve cover and making a mess with a filter From any oil that escapes or routing the stock setup and pushing any oil that comes from there to the Turbos

What do you mean by copy the setup tho? Lol
This is what I’m asking for is input on how the system works so I can understand what I need to do, why wouldn’t I be able to run it the way I first described? If given a reason I’d probably understand much better is all I’m sayin

I’m no expert on the PCV system and don’t claim to be but from my understanding and personal use of the UPR dual valve system this is the extent of what I believe. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong.

The purpose of the dual system is to catch oil both while the engine is under vacuum as well as boost. You need back valve cover to can and can to manifold with a check valve. That covers the dirty side under vacuum. Then, intake tube to clean side separator (oil cap with quick disconnect fitting) to can with check valve. This covers the clean side under boost. And plug off front valve cover.

Now, I’ve wondered myself if you could use the front valve cover port and not the CSS cap. I’m not sure if you could run it that way or not. Would be interesting to know why or why not either way just never bothered to research.

Since everyone seems to not being helpful... You will need at least one check valve to keep pressure from pushing back into the engine. They talk up the UPR unit but it causes check engine lights. I simply put a breather on the back bank. That square plastic part mounted to the valve body is a oil separator (catch can that drains back to the crank). I route the front bank to a catch can then breather. I route ZERO of the oily air back into the intake.

I was having a cel. But do to my install i
put the hose with the valve on top of can
witch is the dirty hose.. The dirty hose should not have a valve.. That goes to the intake.. All is good..

ever had any problems with it being messy just running the breather or does the separator do a good job of keeping that stuff to a minimum?
As for the intake port what did you do with that? Plug it?

The rear bank stock oil separator is so good the K&N breather on it still looks new. The front bank with the aftermarket catch can is a little darker in color. No visible oil liquid though.

yeah, I plugged both the manifold port and the intake port. *DO NOT PLUG EITHER OF THE PORTS COMING OUT OF THE VALVE COVERS!*
The manifold port was my original meth injection point actually. A very good spot, in my opinion, to inject.

Never had a CEL with my UPR.

Which does nothing except blow bypass oil all over the firewall.

how is it overly complicated?? It’s actually kinda simple I just wanted some opinions on it since I don’t have $400 to spend at the moment just to have some peace of mind, I’d happily spend the money but with the current way the world is going I can’t afford a upr along with having a $300 payment for the car and $300 for insurance. Plus if I can figure it out and run it the way I want why the **** not?
I wouldn’t have posted had I known it’d be like this, I thought people were generally more friendly and helpful. Thanks anyways tho

So in other words, you no longer have a PCV system.

I love the assumptions being made.
1) no, I have no oil on my firewall or on my engine. The engine has an oil separator mounted to the valve cover that keeps any oil from getting past the breather.
2) Yes, I have a PCV still since the letters stand for Positive Crank Vent and I'm still venting the crank pressure. I'm just not recirculating it to my intake so it can cook on the backside of my intake valves.

Kyle, this place is a little bit like an old golfer's lounge, for the most part. They enjoy buying and showing off their new drivers, walrus dick leather gloves, and bespoke balls. Working on their short game is not even top 5 in the priorities list. In other words, they can't connect with you for reasons like... they are not broke enough to need to innovate and they probably look down on it.
There are some guys on here that work with their hands, build their own stuff... work on their short game. They are just unfortunately not present on this specific thread.
