Yes, most are plug and play and actually work better then piecing one together. However, if you want to save money, then go for it. I honestly will pay more for a proven product that looks stock, uses the correct fittings, and works great. Hi, I just joined a month ago and live in the Atlanta area. I have 2016 non PP SHO that I think is just grand. Am learning a lot in this forum about maintenance and getting ready to change the oil with the recommended viscosities of Red Line Oil soon. However, WTH is a 'Catch Can'? Start by getting a $15 endoscope off ebay/Amazon. Pop off the MAP sensor and slide it in. You might find your valves are very clean without a catch can. (Mine looked great at 50k miles)
That isn't always the case.
Livernois even said no up until 2018 or so until they started selling their over priced one. Not sure on why they changed their minds unless they just wanted to jump on that cash cow. Better off running a can of crc turbo intake valve cleaner at every oil change. I tried a few different brands of good carb cleaner and seaform when i had the intake manifold off on my first engine. Crc worked better then them all combined right before my eyes just on contact.

I put a stupid nice UPR catch can only mine with the clean side separator along with upgraded check valves...
Every 3K miles open it up... I have never had more than a table spoon of oil/water...
That being said, even before the catch can the cars induction system was always stupid clean.
And I pull 2 to 3 ounces of crap out of mine every 3k miles. Guess you guys have unicorns. Subietech just had his intake off and his valves were gunked up.
Please don’t think I’m arguing your personal experience but I had to start emptying mine at 1,500 to a maximum of 2,000 miles. My can would overflow if I waited any longer. It spills out the side half the time on the way to the bench because it’s so full. By volume probably 3-4 oz of water, 1-2 oz of emulsified oil and water, and another ounce of straight oil.
Hi, now I understand what and why a Catch Can is needed. I just ordered one on Amazon that actually includes a dipstick to check the level of oil without unscrewing the canister. Thanks for the tip.Oh I’m not thinking your starting an argument lol! I have seen sooo many different results on these motors... some people never had a problem with it... others are emptying all the time...
Glad you are diligent in maintaining it!
They do make universal catch cans that evaporate the contents so you never have to dump em.. might be something to look into.
