fine if u dont want one dont buy one and dont participate in the conversation. some of us are interested in making this work. and bad build quality can fixed by going with a different builder... duh![/QB][/QUOTE]

I suppose if someone came up to you and said "Break a leg!", you'd probably break theirs, huh?...duh!! HEY BUDDY, I'D be interested in making this work. I'm getting ready to buy a fiberglass hood for my '92. If it has been tried before to make a carbon fiber hood, and it failed because of bad build quality, I'd think it would be a viable question. If it is cost-effective and doesn't come out as crap, I'd love to have one.

I don't know what should be done first. Getting that bug out of your ass, or to stop being such an ass.

This is another (somewhat extreme) example of hood venting.

Jesus I hope not...

My ideal carbon fiber hood for the gen II would have a buldge similar to the Gen I 'glass hood. I'm not too sure about the vents...

I dont think youre gonna have to worry about something that drastic even being feasible FordLover... correct me if I'm wrong, but that Elise (which is coming to the US soon. sweet!) is a mid-engined car.

Something that big wouldn't work well for those of us who drive when it snows, rains, sleets, or hails. The reason I like the mesh vents is because it keeps the crap out of the engine bay.

what about something like the 2000 cobra r hood - another cool idea i think for the gen 1'ers would be to incorporate the grille into the hood - maybe with a screen type opening for air

I agree with SHOed_up. Last night it snowed so bad here in Utah. I ended up sleeping over at a friends house due to almost zero visability. I was doing 23 in a 30 zone just so I wouldn't slide. Back to the topic. If I had that kind of money, I'd be in. But I can give ideas. If someone can get me the dimensions of a Gen1 and Gen2 hood, (angle, hight, width, length) then I could create one using AutoCAD at school. I love Computer Aided Drafting! thumbs_u

here are the dimentions of a gen 1 hood, problem is it kinda bulges in the middle but i did the best i could. I dont want a cowl hood squint come up with something fun
:D  :D
length--- (center) 44 inches
Length-- (edge) 45.5 inches
width-- (front along headlites) 56 inches
width-- (rear near windsheild) 58 inches
curve-- (at windsheild edge) the center is about 2 inches further in than edges.

the cowl hoods that are being used are made of fiberglass. the carbon fiber hoods, will be either stock or something we come up with that will be made from carbon fiber. which is a much lighter materiel. and it looks really kool to boot.
