ok i know i might get bashed for this but i figured i would be worth a try. I am trying to contact a guy about making a carbon fiber hood for the taurus sho. I already know the cost for the mold is $800 and he needs a stock hood to use for the mold. Im trying to find out if it is going to be worth my while , or im just going to have him build me a one off And the price for the hoods are going to be around $500. I know this is a bit ricey but im sick of my stock hood and i think the cincy hood looks like ass, way too old school looking. I think its about time to make our cars look like modern tuners, since most tuner cars cant touch us

I think it would be a cool idea. I don't have that kind of cash, but I would love to see it on another car. I think it would be something different.(BTW, I have a fiberglass hood already :p :p )

Nothing wrong with "Old School" wink

But I'm looking for something that works as well as looks nice is there any chance we could get a CarbonFiber hood with heat vents. Bit on the pricey side but it should be lighter than fiberglass and Much lighter than the steel Gen2 hood.

That would be a pretty unique mod. I'm in the same boat as you in thinking that the Cincy cowl hood is .. a bit odd looking, especially the gen I hoods.

The weight savings alone would be really nice.

The weight savings sound good but it's hard to comment on a styling mod that you can't see. How about a drawing or something visual before we commit?

Maybe you could have ShoSpd design one, then copy it. :p

Had to give you a shot back after the "looks like ass" comment.

Common man, have a little decency, If you don't like the cincy hood, then say so, but to say it looks like ass? Some people on this forum spent some money to have that 'hood that looks like ass' on their car. I think the cincy hood is the best alternative to what we have. A carbon fiber would be even better, but sounds extreamly costly. At least theft wouldn't be that big of a deal, as few people are looking for a carbon fiber hood for their Taurus.

By heat vents do you mean the mesh type openings similar to what's on the Evo VII and Vanquish or do you mean gills such as on the C5R?

First one looks clean, and aside from the fact that I don't think it would fit with the lines of the SHO is OK.
Second one...Well, I just don't like it.
Ideally I'd go with something like the AM Vanquish, small vents that get the job done w/o being overstated. I also like the slight bulge in the hood. If I was getting something custom made I think I'd want it based off this.
Vanquish2

This is another (somewhat extreme) example of hood venting.

I agree with a power bulge hood, but i really think that having a vent like the civic hood would be really kool idea, but if this is gonna work we are gonna have to figure out whats possible and what everyone wants.

All the hoods you all are mentioning look like ASS!! They all have a "crack" to let "heat" or "gasses" escape.
By the way, didn't CincySHO used to have carbon fiber hoods for sale?? I thought they were discontinued because they came out looking truly like ass, bad build quality!

fine if u dont want one dont buy one and dont participate in the conversation. some of us are interested in making this work. and bad build quality can fixed by going with a different builder... duh!

I think he was just joking. No need to get upset.

I'm going to see if one of my friends who knows his CG programs can put together a hood that fits the sho's current dimensions and incorporates some of the AM Vanquish styling. I'll let you know if it looks like ass or not wink
