After my car sat at the gym for about 2hours i went outside to try to start it and it just clicked and lights went out. when i turned the key back and the lights came on sterio came on. so got a jump from a friend and when jumping it there was no go. i even used a jump starter that i have used multiple times to start it when it was DEAD and it wouldn't start. Then when i took out the keys i heard a skreech from the trunk so i checked the fuel cut off switch and it was fine. traced the nois from the trunk to the keyless entry box. The first time i unpluged all of the wires my car started. after a few times i tried that it no longer worked. Is there some way around the keyless entry system. if you unplug all of the wires there is no power anywhere in the car.

dunndt,

your symptoms sound alot like a problem i had last winter with my '94 MTX... when i put the key in the "on" position, all the lights came on as usual, but when i turned the key to "start," everything went dead... i shut the key off, and turned it back to the "on" position, and i got my dash lights back, and noticed a rapid ticking noise coming from the trunk... traced the ticking to the keyless entry module... long story short, it turned out that my battery was toast... apparently when the keyless entry module gets a "lower than usual" voltage from the battery, it ticks...

anyway, i'm not sure you have the same problem, but that's the way it went for me...

hope you figure it out soon!

dunndt,

The problem may be your battery under any type of LOAD. I've learned the hard way that sufficient voltage/amperage is key to today's vehicles. I've seen more than one car (to include a free truck!) cured of all problems with a new battery. Many of these problems eluded decent technicians. Good luck! Try someone else's fresh battery for free, and take the opportunity to scrub and paint the tray, a moderate pain in the ass. They all rot....

It is almost certainly your battery. I had the same problem last year and a new battery fixed the problem.
