Anyway my SHO died while driving last week. Just cranks now. I kind of narrowed the problem down to the AC fan control Relay Box located above the fan shroud. I replaced it with another one but not sure if it came out of the same year. Needless to say this did not fix the problem. I still have no power to my fuel pump circuit or my ignition circuit. Is anyone familiar with these relay boxes, and does anyone know if they are year or MTX/ATX specific. I have a 92 MTX. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks.

first, have you pulled the codes yet? Codes would defintely help in our diagnosis. Also, when you turn the car to run (not to start), can you hear the fuel pump prime? If not, it could be the fuel pump relay. Get back to us.

I have not pulled the codes yet. No fuel pump prime. The fuel pump does however work, because I put 12volts to the pump and it works. Where is the fuel pump relay? Is it in that relay box. Like I said I also have no power on my ignition circuit. When I replaced the relay box with another my fan comes on with ignition which it should not. This is why I think there is a difference between the relay boxes. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks!

You may also make sure the fuel pump impact switch is reset in the trunk.

My suggestion would be to hotwire the fuel pump and start the engine. If your tach does not work, then it is the crankshaft position sensor. Easiest way to tell. I have a car I'm working on right now that's doing the same thing. You could also just spray some starting fluid into the TB and have someone else turn it over and check

Where did you get the replacement unit from? Was it new? Could be a faulty unit.

Ok, I again hotwired the fuel pump, tried to start the car, no good, the tach however does register during crank. Does this mean that my crank sensor is OK!! I still have no power on the Red/Lt Green ignition feed wires that are on the coil pack and the ignition module. Any suggestions?
Thanks

For what its worth your problem sounds "simular" to another one where the guy tried relays ect, ect.and went nuts trying to trace it down, His fix...replaced blown 10amp fuse for the computer in the power distribution box under the hood.Probably not your problem but might not hurt to look...imagine a cheap simple fix on a SHO would'nt that be novel

That sounds like your Crank Position Sensor is bad. Before your car died were you having any problems? Also, do you notice any fluid leak near the area of the waterpump?

Ok, I have to correct myself before I go too far.The purple 10 amp fuse to which I refered to is for the ignition coils and is in position M1 in the high power distribution box located under the hood on the driver's side between the strut tower and firewall, soory about any confusion I should have checked my references before hand and sorry for the postx2 good luck hope this helps

Yeah I did check all the fuses from the start.Everything is good. But that would be nice if it was that simple. Does anybody think it could be the computer itself?

Just figured I would state the problem. After some time with tracing wiring diagrams and some testing it turned out to be a broken ignition Red/Lt.Green wire that was in the harness that goes over the the radiator. This wire was rubbing on the top of the condenser and finaly broke in half. Anyway thats all it was! Back on the road!!
