Well let me say this, when I went to start the car earlier, I had trouble getting the key to turn in the cylinder so I turned the steering wheel a little and kind of forced it so then it went to start and all was well until I went to turn it off. Instead of the normal resistance when turning it off, the key in the cylinder went all the way back to the off and acc. positions but did not turn the car off, I could even pull the key out while the car was still running. I know a lot about cars but with ignition cylinders, I'm lost. Here's what I do know, after cutting battery/alt. power to the car, we finally got the car off. Then we dropped the steering column and pulled out the ignition switch box(whatever it's called it's a tan box that has the switch/lever the goes up from off to start and I now use it to start and turn off my car. A little pin fell onto the ground shortly after pulling the lower cover off the steering wheel that I don't know where it goes. Here's the deal, I can put the key in and actually start my car but it will not catch and go in any other slot in the cylinder, only in start. I'm thinking maybe a lever in between the key cylinder and ignition box maybe went bad but why could the car start perfectly fine. If someone can help me out, it would be appreciated. I'm not to familiar with the igniton components and stuff and need to know exactly what is bad. Whatever is bad, doesn't the SLO's use the same thing? Thanks.
