In WI, if someone returns a Vehicle and gets a full refund for what they paid, is the sales tax refundable? Can't get a straight answer. The finance guy wasn't available at the place and sales dude doesn't have an actual License to sell or isn't required? They said I should just be happy I got a refund:nut:

:thankyou:

If they dont refund the sales tax then they are stealing from you. Period. If there was no sale then there was no tax.

Here in Tennessee you would get busted quick for doing stuff like that. I would call the office in charge of Auto Dealers in your state and report them then file a claim in small claims court if they dont give you your money back.

I need to wake up. Sale voided. Denied full refund? Good call. Sales Tax of $162.25 plus $199 Service Fee. I will be calling the Finance person tomorrow. If it doesn't get resolved, the BBB will be notified and the WI DOT.

also do contact 6 - bad reputations are always a good threat - usually, the dealer will refund ASAP before they get a bad rep.

You may have to sacrifice the "service fee", cause they did provide you with service. If I were them I'd probably want something non-refundable if for no other reason than I don't want to deal with the wishy-washy...

Good Luck:wave:

I can agree with the Service Fee charge. Another red flag is the so-called 2.5% fee they charge on purchases with a credit card over $1K. I have heard of fees like this to pay taxes, etc. I don't recall agreeing to pay $50 for some fee they want to charge because they can. Nothing was posted in bldg. stating this or written in the contract. I've seen signs posted in Hospitals like $100 is required before we will render services.

We'll see what happens after the Dispute Dept. gets done with them

That is not only legit, but also understandable. Credit card processors charge mechants fees for their services. When you pay with a credit card the store/business actually has to pay part of what you are paying them to the processor. They make less money by offering you that payment option. When you start talking about high dollar items, that small service fee becomes pretty substantial. As a business owner and a former car dealer i can tell you first hand that not ever car sale generates a huge profit. I've sold cars at a loss before just to get it off my books. If i had 2 people wanting to buy the same item, one offering cash and one offer credit card, i would take the cash everyday because i actually get to keep all the money. If you dont have the cash to buy the item and need to use a credit card you cant fault the business for not wanting to eat that charge.

They have stamped in all in Caps, SORRY WE CANNOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS ON VEHICLE PURCHASES. I think they need to revise the form and remove that statement. Just a thought. Because they do accept that form of payment.
