I am running into this weird issue where I drive for a couple hours and the car will just randomly start to overheat about an hour or so in... I slow down and the car cools a little, but the needle is still 75% up (almost to H).

When I slow down off the highway and get on city streets, the car starts shifting weird, leaks transmission fluid and something is smoking, but I can't tell what..

Also, I noticed I am losing just a small amount of coolant on these trips, but not enough to make it show the low coolant light or anything, although there could be a crack in my coolant box, not sure though.

Any ideas what it could be?

Update: Replaced coolant tank with aftermarket clear top version and it seems to be working; no overheating issues so far with a 2 hour drive, also no ATX leaks. Hopefully this fixed the issue, will update if it comes up again.

I wonder if it overheated the trans/trans fluid and it came out of the vent tube. I would change the trans fluid to be safe...
