Hey,

I have a 90SHO and it has been running real sluggish lately. I drove it to Penn State this weekend (2 hr drive) and it seemed fine. Coming back today I noticed that when I would get on the gas hard, the car was a bit sluggish in response. (it took a split second for the car to get up to power making an almost 'bucking' motion for a second) Also, lately when I get on the gas, my exhaust sounds a lot louder and raspier than normal. Could an exhaust leak be the culprit? One more thing, I DO NOT have motorcraft wires and plugs in there. Could this be what is causing the power loss? I am not sure because it had been running fine for a few months on the non-Motorcraft plugs and wires. This power-loss problem just started today.
Thanks for any help.

Cheers,

Matt FD

From what I hear a few months are about all you get from the cheaper aftermarket plugs and wires. Change these out first. Fordpartsnetwork.com for good prices on Motorcraft stuff.

Even if it isn't the plugs and wires after all, without codes to guide you this is the first step in narrowing down the possibilities. It's much easier to troubleshoot knowing the plugs and wires are correct and in good shape. Many times that's all there is though.
