Car is getting a whole new steering rack

89k miles. Started her up the other day... went to turn out of the spot and she made a gruesome grinding / like sand in gears noise. Steering wheel would stick at 45deg turns left and right.
Dealer is covering it with the extended warranty. The electric steering motor was about to go and the rack was as well. Wondering how much that would have been out of warranty ?

Seems like the dealer said it would be about $1200 total when mine was replaced. Glad I didn't have to pay for it.

Its easy, takes me about 90 minutes with a hoist at work
