Because of an 1100$ insurance bill i got in july. my car has been off the road ever since.wen i took it off the road i was having rear brake trouble because i didnt bleed them properly (did not compress the valve thing yah i said valve thing haha) so i need a new caliper rotors and pads i was also planning on changing the oil obviously as well. however the car has sat for months before and always fired right up i probaly didnt start it from august till about november started up.. ran. i went to start it a few days ago.. dead. so i jumped it started right up ran fine.. took the cables off went to move it to another spot in my driveway died no power whatsoever. just went outside today hooked my fathers gmc up to it for about 20 minutes to charge it started it let it run while still connected for about 10 minutes.took the cables off and it died a few minutes later..is the battery no good? am I just not charging it good enough? or is it my alternator :frown: i sure hope not because i was planning on putting it on the road next week wich is gonna cost me an arm and a leg and i already need to get rear rotors pads a caliper oil/filters before i can do that..also since its been sitting for about 6 months with almost NO gas what do you suggest i do to get her running good besides some dry gas and a full tank of 93?? (I got a lot of work to do and at 19 dont know much at all about this engine but know some mechanics you may start to hate me haha) any advice is greatly appreciated

sounds like a bad battery and alternator..probably just a battery though, and if u bleed the brakes wrong, Y u buying all new parts for the back, just re-bleed the system, that'll save u some money, put some fresh gas in there, change the oil/filter...and then start 'er up let her run for awhile, to make sure that the thermostat isn't stuck closed or nothing, then u should b good!!!...good luck to ya.

the reason im replacing parts in the rear is because i drove the car way after the pads were gone so my rotors are like cheese graters and i have a seized caliper because it was sticking from not being bleed properly and leaving the ebrake on a few times. Thanks for the advice though im gonna fill her up withs super and add some fuel additive techron or something a friend told me it works great cleans the system well for an additive not like the cheesey other brands supposively

If the car dies right after the charger (your dad's truck) is unhooked, then it's definately your alternator. Your battery could be bad as well though... If you can, do a load test on your battery and alternator.

After it dies, do you get any power to lights/starter etc? Does it sound fuel starved? As suggested above, load test the battery and get that nasty 6month old gas outta there.
