I just recently bought a 1993 SHO and it occasionally will just die on me this only happens in 3rd 4th or 5th gear and sometime when I'm on the freeway which is very scary. A friend of mine said it might be the DIS Module. Any suggestions? And it hasn't had a tune up in three years so the seller tells me. Where should I start everything else seems to be working fine. Please help.

Start with checking the codes. Do a search on how to check codes. Get that information to us, and we will point you in the right direction. As for a DIS, yes it could be. But there are plenty of other common parts to fail too.

Same issue here. (95 ATX w/110,000 drives great, full power) Sometimes it happens when i turn the car off and try to start it again (3 times before today)(Car will crank and almost start) today it happened at 40 mph. if i wait 30 mins. it fires right up again as if it never happened and drives great. (Car will crank and almost start) NO CODES!!!!!
Thanks for any help.

Also there is sometimes a gas smell I checked to see if it was leaking anywhere and its not. And it seems to also die alot more when the car gets down to 1/4 tank of gas or I have the heat on with the stereo etc... Would it matter if the car hasn't had a tune up in 3 years?:nut:

I see that you are new. Here is the deal... Listen to the advice that is given. I told you to check your codes and you pm me the same post info and ask for help. But you did not check your codes like I told you. There is a lot of help on this board. But if you do not get us the information that we requested, we can not help you. Not beating you up, just trying to help. :)

Next time it will not start, cycle the key 4 or 5 times. Listen for the fuel pump. If you hear a fuel pump whine, and it still will not start, I would rule the pump out. I had a weak pump on my 93 that would give me a hard start at times. If I cycled the key, it would fire right up. I never had to wait any more than 30 seconds though. Not 30 minutes like you.

Check your water pump for seepage onto the crank sensor. My guess is that you are due for a 60K with a replacement of the crankshaft sensor.
