I was driving my SHO today and I was about 3 blocks from home and the car just died on me. I let it sit and tried starting it but nothing. I hear the fuel pump running so it's not that. So I walk home and come back an hour later it started! I let it run for 5 min about and it died and won't start up again. I checked for spark and nothing. Let the car sit for about 15 mins. and the car started and ran for a few mins. then died. So it's spark related! shrug Any body have this happen to them? Any info would be helpful thanks! Drew

does the starter turn? i know it doesnt start, but can you hear it chugging and straining to start at least? how old are your wires? not that they would all fail at once, but i suppose anything is possible. did you check the harness on the coilpack? if it just died alltogether while driving i know thats a symptom of the crank sensor pooping out on you. i hope thats not the case though. good luck.

Could be your water pump leaking, causing a bad CPS. This might be why your car starts up after letting it sit for a while. the water pump doesn't leak when the car is off, allowing the CPS to dry. then you start it, the water pump starts to leak again causing the CPS to get wet and your car stalls. Just something to think about.

The water pump is brand new just replaced that along with a new timing belt and clutch and of course I replaced those spark plug o-rings. The wires are in great shape. I knew I should have changed that crank sensor I was just there doing the timing belt. I'm going to throw the car on the computor tomorrow to see if it will say any codes. Can I test the crank sensor?

Classic symptom of a faulty CPS sensor.

Yes, you can test the sensor (also the CID sensor). I posted a diagostic procedure a month or two ago, a SEARCH should find it.

That is definitely the sign of a CPS. And a leaky water pump won't be the cause of the death of one of these. My water pump leaked for about 3k miles, while dripping all over my CPS the whole time. I changed the water pump, along with the timing and accessory belts, but not my CPS. I dried it off, cleaned the underside of it, and plugged it back in. And this was 8k miles ago. So a leaky water pump may cause a faulty CPS, but it won't all the time(at least in my case). But if I were you, I would change out that CPS before it leaves you stranded some where.
