Hey guys, so i moved my car to clean the driveway and few minutes later the car didn't start anymore.:oogle:

I noticed that when i was trying to start it back on the was some weird noise like the one you get when you leave the car door open with the key in the ignition but way much faster, like some kind of alarm or something. Ok that was my first tried to start the car.

I wait a few seconds and tried a second time.

This time the rpm needle moved toward the center and started bouncing/shaking back and forward, very fast while this strange gargling noise was going on.

After that the car died completely for good. Now rpm needle won't moved anymore, I took the starer out and brought it to autozone to see if it work and i was good after testing it.

I switch the ignition switch after that and no good still, i had a electronic key security device and i disable it to make sure and still nothing.

Battery is good all electric works fines , lights, fuel pump, radio, a/c, ect...

I checked for burn wires just in case, everything seams good...

I read a couple of threads and tried few things like pumping gas, holding the gas pedal for a few seconds and nothing...

Anybody knows what else could it be??

As always anyhelp is gladly appreciated... this car is driving me crasy:cry: :bonk:
Thanks

Jean.

gargling:frown:

I don't know how the gurgling could be related electrically but I did have a starters commutator go bad on me and would cause so much interference it would mess the car up and the tach would jump all over and never start. I little jump start it would fire right up. Give that a try.

If you ran the car for a very short period of time, they can get flooded. I was testing DIS' and other parts and couldnt figure out what the heck happened. The KEY to this situation is the starter sounding funny and it seeming to be cranking much FASTER.

Paul Nimz gave me the following advice:

Your car is flooded. Hold the gas pedal to the floor for 15-20 seconds while cranking it. It will fire eventually and start up....it will sputter...but give it a few seconds to idle.

Actually, it just happened to me again today.

i tried the holding on the pedal trick on the car a few times and i didn't work,
i could test the DIS i guess that would be my next step, unless somebody has a better idea...

Holding it for a few seconds dont work...you have to hold it literally for like 20 seconds.

I think Autozone/Advance will test a DIS if removed from the car for free. Takes 2 min to remove. You need a 5.5mm socket.

Verify that you have spark and fuel pressure first before you go replacing more parts. No need in spending money if you don't have to.

If your tach isn't moving when the engine is cranking you have a dead CID.

yes the tachs are not moving but, the engine is not cranking at all neither

i got one of Josh's hipo fuel kits and i can see fuel pressure on the inside the hood guage... i will check on the spark today, thanks.

i was under the impresion that to get spark from the plugs the engine would have to some kind of cranking capabilities at its minimun or something?

That's your main problem. How many volts is the starter getting when you crank, how many volts is your battery making, does the other stuff work (radio, lights, other electronics).

Start with that.

P.S. I'll take the car off your hand so you wouldn't have to deal with it anymore. No need to thank me, happy to do it! :D

I turned everything off, and tried to start the car, same no good.

I took the DIS off and tried an old one i had an, same problem i know the old one was working so i went ahead and took the one i was using to Autozone to test it. but they didnt have the adaptor to do it. :(

Someone at the store told me to check the switch on the clutch pedal but, that didnt help me much since everything look ok there i guess.....

I guess i should get ready to take everything apart to get to the CPS, i hate to deal with that thing..........

what about the CID would its failure cause a no start condition???

The car will not crank at all if the interlock switch is not activated. It will only 'click'.

.....

Nothing. It might not start once or twice, but it should after a few tries, even if the CID is gone. CPS is another story though.

Hey Tim, thanks for your input, what is that interlock switch thing i don't think i heard of it before, or a least never had problems with it before there for i have no idea what it is..... i do get one single click once i release the key.

other than that nothing else works is like if the engine dye mechanically.
I still confuse about when i first tried to start the car the day it died there was some kind of weird noises one was like the one you get when you door is open with the key in the ignition(door chime noise thing).you know the real annoying one but much faster. it was going so fast you knew something was wrong.

then the other noise was some kind of almost gurgling noise that could be heard while the rpm needle was shaking/moving for the last time as i was trying to turn the key???

That's not what I'm saying at all. You got a no crank situation, check if your starter's getting power, if not you know it's either the battery, wires, or your clutch interlock.

Does your radio, and lights (interior and exterior) work? If they don't you know it's battery related.

What exactly do you mean "nothing else works"? No lights, no door chime, no nothing?

What EXACTLY happens when you turn the key to START? If you clutch interlock is bad, the car will make a single click, that is all. No crank, no starter, nothing. Just as if you were trying to start the car with the clutch pedal not depressed. If that is the case, just add a jumper in the switch and the car should start. I have had these go out for no apparent reason whatsoever. One day it worked, next day it did not. Jumpered the switch and it is fine.
