I was wondering what the specifications were on how many CCA's are needed for the 1994 MTX SHO.

I have heard around 900 is good but right now the battery that came with it has 415 CCA's, 500 CA's.

I noticed more and more lately (that its getting colder) that it will take a couple seconds for the engine to kick over sometimes...it will crank for a couple seconds, then start...I have heard this is due to the battery not having enough a** to kick it over.

I am also replacing the alternator...its going out and me needs more juice for louder music. thumbs_u

Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

Exceeding the manufacturer's recommended CCA is usually not needed since all you are doing is paying for capacity that you likely don't need.

A recent Consumer's Reports focused on car batteries and is very informative. Check out the periodical section of your local library and see if you can find it.
