1. Go to best buy
2. go pick out a new radio
3. pick out a harness
4. purchase everything you picked out
5. go home and install it.

I just did that in my GTP. It was a PITA but well worth it looking back the past 6 weeks or so. Remote, CD, MP3 player compatible, better speakers and sound...way worth it now. Plus I had an extra amp and 6x9's from an older car I could make use of. You can get decent sound for pretty short money vs stock these days.

You dont need to run new wire to your speakers. The shos are dual wired. It has + and - to each speaker from the amps, and from speaker harness thats hidden in the dash. If you pull out your radio, it should be just to the left inside the din slot, on one of the dash supports. Just pick up the harness adapter and your set to install whatever radio you want. Even a double din like mine.

If you go that route, though, you'll want to make sure to unplug the stock amps; if you leave them hooked up you'll blow the fuse in your head unit repeatedly.

But yeah, it's very easy to wire the speakers up to a new HU; that extra speaker plug is there for the base model tauruses with no amps, and having just one harness for all the models saves money.

Go to http://www.crutchfield.com and enter in your car's information; it will show you what all fits (that would be every DIN sized radio ever) and then you can decide which one you like... then find a cheaper price elsewhere cause crutchfield will rape you on price.
