I have a 2015 with Sync2. Does anyone know if I can upgrade it to Sync3? Are the HW changes needed as well? Just wondering.

It can be swapped, but I don't know the cost to do it. We had a Ford employee driving a company car with Sync3 when those cars came from the factory with Sync2, and we had to swap it back to Sync2 when he turned the car in, so I know it can be done. Since the factory took care of all of it, I have no idea what the costs were.

I remember seeing it for $2,000. Not including installation.

You might be better off with something like this: https://9to5google.com/2016/12/08/sony-android-auto-receiver-now-available/

Just the other day, I forced my Sync 3 to upgrade to version 2.2 so I could play around with Android Auto. It's really nice, actually. Google Music lets me say "play artist/album/song" and it just goes and finds it. Google Maps is also a win, although there are some things like the traffic colors not being bright enough.
