Just wondering if bad motor mounts can give you a soft shift or is it only a rough shift?

My rear mount is shot and if I give the car gas when it's already moving I can feel the engine lift and then sit back down.

Yes, worn motor mounts can definitely affect the quality of the shift feel. During forward acceleration, the loads are applied to the front mount. During engine braking or reverse motion, the loads are applied to the rear mount. It is those upshifts that apply the greatest impact loads to the front motor mount. It is also during those shifts that you will feel the greatest difference when the mounts are not able to restrain those loads.

I had my front motor mount replaced.

Before in driving hard and banging gears, shifting was 'loud' and sloppy, i guess are the words.

Now with the new MM, its alot smoother and quiteer
