Its time to replace my rack and at all the local parts stores they show both VAPS and non-VAPS rack listings for my 93 ATX. Even on RockAuto there is both a non-VAPS (part #22225) and VAPS (part #3618624) rack shown. My question is can the non-VAPS rack be used on my 93? If so will there be any modifications necessary? Thanks very much for any info on this.

The 22-225 is the correct part for a VAPS rack. You actually transfer over your old VAPS module to the rebuilt rack (it comes with new rubber rings just for this purpose). Also, don't forget to transfer the small relief valve from inside one of the ports where the hose connects (it looks like a small silver button).

I don't recognize the other part number you listed.

For what it is worth, I think Cardone rebuilds about 90% of the racks on the market. They even rebuild the racks for Ford. I don't think I am alone here when I say I have 3 out of the last 5 racks from Cardone either be bad out of the box, or fail within a couple months. It is pretty frustrating since the job is about 5-7 hrs to swap a rack. I have let Cardone know about my issues, and there is another local club member with 75% failure rate too.

Just a little heads up. There is not much you can do, but may the force be with you.

Thanks for the info. That second part # I listed is a part number on RockAuto's website. You can see it on their website under 93 ATX parts listings. I guess I still need to find out if I can purchase the non-VAPS rack that they list and if it will work on my car. Otherwise is this non-VAPS rack that im seeing at parts stores something that is not supposed to be there?
