Camera and the 12S

BTW, does anyone know. Ford had said that you couldn't order the 12S package with any package that included the back up camera.

Now I just read the camera is now standard equipt. Does that mean you can now order the 12S with a 402 package?

At the media preview and the launch back in Feb, Ford said you couldn't get the camera or radar systems (front and side) with the 12s performance package.

I dont think that statement was ever true. I think they would not allow you to order 12S with 402, which was forecasted 65% of all SHO sales. Also was the most loaded package out there. 401 was 25% and 400 was 10%.

I know for a fact that you cannot get 402 with 12S. Nor can you get Adaptive Cruise with 12S.

As of November 20, 2009, All job #2 Taurus SHOs had a $600 dollar price increase. The Taurus SEL 202B, All Limiteds, and All SHOs now get a standard Backup Camera. (All Job 2 Vehicles).

My 2010 SHO 400A with 12S will include a backup camera.

However now that the camera is "stock" in Job 2 and is no longer part of 402a/b, does that now mean you can order 12S if the car has a camera?

2010sho, that is correct.

Before the Rear view camera was ONLY available with 402A. Now, For Job#2, all 202B SEL, all limiteds and all SHOs get the rear view camera.

Also since we're in Job #2 now, the "A" nomenclature is dropped. The "B" is for Job #2 Vehicles.

Since the camera is now a standard option, I wonder if that includes the DVD player. You got the screen in the dash. Actually, the camera is really nice for backing up, but for $600 I wouldn't get it. You got to draw the line at some point. Massaging seats, I was kinda chuckling... is there a slot to insert a quarter? I got the 401A though. The moon roof and the Sony I like. BTW, I never thought I would get Sirius radio, but after two days of listening, I was looking at subscription prices. There's a shipload of different subscriptions, up to 7 years IIRC. At the very bottom, there's a lifetime subscription for $400. The 3 year subscription was more than that! I went ahead and got it and now, I can't get to that page listing all those subscriptions. The only page I can find only goes up to a 2 year.

Get a little help with parking and backing out. While in reverse, the available rear view camera on the SHO will provide a video image of the area behind your vehicle in the rear view mirror or navigation screen if equipped.

IIRC if you don't select the DVD option, the rear view camera screen will appear in the rear view mirror.

The salesmen knows I wanted the 12S but I also wanted the 402. And the 402 won out.

I have a call into my dealer but the salesmen is off today

That rear view camera deal is worthless IMO. My boss' F-350 has it and it doesn't do justice to it. Maybe I'm used to my big ass dash camera now, but even seeing the new 2010 in dash camera for the Super Duty pick ups, that one is still smaller than the SHOs.

The issue is that 12S was NOT and is not available with 402 PERIOD on the 2010 Model year. Maybe next year. You still cannot order the 12S with 402, even if you have a job #2 vehicle.

The rearview camera is not the REASON that you CANT get the 12S. Part of it is BLIS, the other part is the available Distronic Cruise, and other packaging issues.

Also, if you were to get 401, and added adaptive cruise, it would cancel out the 12S. You cant have one or the other.

BS, my wife has it on her Extended length expedition and she can park that thing anywhere. And that's with the rear view camera one at that.

I'm really peeved myself, lol, i really wanted the backup camera. This car could really use it. Oh well
