tinkering with ideas for a few basic mods and I was reading that the mtx cams were a bit more aggressive then the atx cams can i swap 3.0 mtx cams into my 3.2 atx car? im going to be doing my 60k soon and figured it would be a decent minor upgrade if it would work any input would be great

intake cams on the 3.0 have more lift, exhaust cams are identical. lots of guys have done this and yes it gives you more power on the 3.2.

Do a search on the 3.0 cam swap into an ATX, I was going to do this same swap but there isn't much of an increase if any. I think I read some where that the only increase was above 5k.

Its not an ATX, but in talking with someone with a 3.2 mtx...they said they could definatly tell a difference up top with the 3.0 cams vs the 3.2 cams. The car just seemed to breath better and keep on pulling.

Yes you can swap the 3.0 heads to a 3.2. The heads are the same internally. I believe you may have to make a few minor exterior adjustments (tap a few holes ect) so that the 3.2 accesories will attach to the head correctly. I would saw just swap the cams over.

you will want to just swap the cams, not the heads - or else you create a bunch more work to do to make the accessories bolt up.

if you already have 3.0 cams and are tearing into the motor, go for it. otherwise the gain isnt worth it.

again thanks i found a set of heads on ebay for 50 bucks shipped and the 3.0 cams are pretty cheap when there on there so im planning on going all out with the heads and just putting the 3.0 cams in, seeing as 750 for better cams is outta the question right now, also does anybody know of anywhere that sells oversize valves as a kit? Shosource seems a little pricey at 18 bucks a piece, also on a mission to find a complete intake i assume there also the same between the 3.0 and 3.2 i got some tricks i want to expirament with that i think will really wake it up.

the only reason i was wondering about the heads being different was looking for a little more compression ive worked on a lott of old v-8 stuff you would be surprised what a 289 head will do on a 351w, but the heads i bought are 3.2 heads so ill work with what i got

The only place I know of for oversized valves is sho source. I am doing a 3.2 rebuild and was thinking about them, but for the price I think I will stay stock. As far as an intake, if you post in the "Wanting to buy" section I am sure someone has one. As far as compression, the 3.0 heads and the 3.2 heads are the same. Swaping heads around wont gain any. To bump up the comp you would need new pistons, but they are in the same price range as the cams.

I noticed a little difference on my ATX when I had other mods like ported intake, bbb's and 80mm maf. The bigger difference was the tri-flow cams! :)
