:nut: :nut: :nut: MY ENGINE 3.0 HAS 154000 MILES ON IT..NO MODS, STRICKLY STOCK.. RECENTLY I NOTICED ITS BEEN MAKING A BIT OF A TICKING FROM THE TOP..I'VE BEEN DOING SEARCHES ON THE FORUM FOR QUITE SOME TIME AND PEOPLE SAY ITS PROBABLY MY CAM CHAIN TENSIONER THATS WORN OR LOOSE, TONIGHT I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHO SAID IT SOUNDED LIKE A CAM FOLLOWER..WHAT THE HECK IS THAT IF THAT DOES EXIST ON MY MTX..AND WOULD IT BE WORTH THE REPAIR OR SHOULD I JUNK THE MOTOR...HELP... :thumb: :thumb:

Your mechanic either doesnt know his terms or shouldnt be near your car another second.

Easiest way to test the cam chain as the ticking source is to use a screwdriver to listing to the tensioner noise thru the valve cover. First the back then the front. If its like night and day, then you have found your problem. They are easy to change for the mechanically inclinded. Cost is pretty resonable and worth fixing vs junking the motor.

does anyone know where i can take my sho to get properly diagnosed in the detroit michigan area...besides the (expensive)ford dealership...
