Nice article.
What happened to those days.
Notice that the 2 breakout cars mentioned that we can relate to (64.5 Mustang and 89 SHO) both had low price as one of the more remarkable features.
Why do manufacturers keep forgetting that.

Things are relative though. I have the build sheet and sales documents from my 90 SHO, and in stripper mode (no sunroof. etc) the car was over $30,000.00 in Canada. A $10,000.00 premium it seems.

I was in high school in 1988/89 and had a part time gig at the local Ford dealership then as a shop boy. Remember the first SHO they received was a light titanium one with a price of $21,000 on the sticker and also remember the first Probe they got in. A GT turbo which was also up there. $21,000 was not cheap back then, especially to a 16 year old.

This artical reminds us how impressive the SHO was at it's introduction. I had an early 89' SHO for a demo and, although it had the original pathetically small clutch, it was an intoxicating experience! In fact, I ended up buying my 1st 89' SHO(a factory rep's demo) in early 1990! Although I was the finance manager at the time, I was made the SHO specialist after that! :salute:
