I am talking with another SHOForum member about buying a 95 ATX SHO from him. He says it is having a minor problem with shifting. Basically this is what is going on with it.

The transmission will shift fine, but sometimes it will hang up in a gear and then if you let off of the gas, it will slam into the next gear. When on the highway, it will run like normal. If you manually shift the tranny, and keep it out of OD in the city, it will work fine.

I figured that a bad VSS or TSS might be the problem. Could this be? Might this be a minor fix that can be done without shooting my wallet full of holes?

Plan on the price of a tranny rebuild when you make an offer. You'll need it.

Steve

yeah i have to agree with Steve 100%, he's been in the atx, i'm in the process of rebuilding one, there is ALOT of fun stuff inside one of these babies, i'll be glad when i am done, not to mention the damn transmission is heavy as ****. i'm gunna start tearing in down tommorow, it's in the basement, i was trying to get what fliud is left in it by lifting it up and letting the oil drain out the end were the diff pin is, my wife holding a bucked, lets just say it didn't go good, ending with my big toe in alot of pain and my wife calling me some selective words because i was loosing it. ANYWAY, take Steves advice and mine, your gunna need a rebuild.:shappens:

it could be possible that is it the VSS, might as well try and replace it, cuz if your rebuilding your gunna replace it anyhow so it can't hurt to try, just a pita with the trans in the car, can be done though.
