i was wondering if there is just a bulb behind the oil pressure light. I believe mine is out because I can't get it to turn on. Dumping the clutch and having the rpm's low won't make it turn on and i believe the light is supposed to come on when u have the key to the on position. how do you get to that bulb? thanks.

It sounds like the bulb is gone if it does not come on at startup. Yes there is a bulb there kind of screwed in, the only way to get to it is to the pull the instrument cluster. (If you are wirery enough you might be able to reach up behind the dash to get to it.) Any auto parts store carries it sense it is a Taurus/Sable item.

I have the dash apart and i replaced the bulb but it still doesn't turn on. I replaced the base with the battery light and that didn't work. So now what? How the **** do i get the speedo cable out of the cluster? I want to take the whole thing out and inspect it. How do i do this?

well i finally got the cluster out. I rubbed the contacts with a knife and made sure they were clean. I put the cluster back in and nothing. The light will not turn on. i jiggled the wires and everything. Nothing. Anyone know?

Check the connector on the pressure sending switch. It is located on the bottom rear of the firewall side head, about as close as possible to the drive's position. Access it from underneath the car as it is easier to see from below. It should have a single wire push-on connector. If you ground that wire (not the sensor) with the ignition turned to RUN, the red warning lamp should light. If it does light under these conditions, replace the pressure sending switch, it's bad. If it doesn't come on, you have an open wiring fault and will need to dig into the circuit.

thank you projectSHO. i checked the sender and the wire wasn't even connected to it. The only thing is, the plug doesn't stay on the sender. It just kind of slops around. So for right now i have it duct taped. I'm gonna try to squeeze the plug with pliers so maybe it will squeeze the metal insert therefore holding it on the sender. thanks again.
