also don't flame me about my age, or the fact of you think it will cost lotsa money, my dad owns an autobody shop and for any part i need i basicly buy a wrecked car, i got a 1991 sho taurus hit from behind for 200 canadian, i got my 300zx tt turbos for another 150 off a wreaker, my dad has a b class welding certificate, and we have made other small twin turbo, and a 5.0 quad turbo(turbos were off turbo sprints lol), i also have an unlimited amount of room in the car for pluming, basicly all i need is directions of where and what internals to get

Mike,

Most of the pistons are semi-custom being that a few mfg's have done a small run or two of custom pistons for the car. I know Ross, Wiseco, and JE have made them for SHO's before. You can contact those companies with an inquiry. Also, I thought I saw Josh from Shonut Performance was gathering interest in a run of pistons. You can contact him through his website http:www.shonutperformance.com

If you use the stock 3.2 rods they seem to be pretty stout. I am considering a custom rod run (maybe) if I decide to tweak the stroke with FI. I don't want a huge change in stroke considering the high rev performance aspect of the motor but a little extra displacement, considering the narrow overbore options, wouldn't hurt. I would suggest you use the stocker's you have now, or bore the block to the 3.2 specs and use a set of 3.2 rods.

i was looking at boring to 3.2 but that will slow down the rev's a little so you think these rods will hold up to around 500 hp, ft/lb torque

I don't think it will lower your max revs down that much. The 3.2 rod/piston combo is a heavier assembly than the 3.0 but with custom pistons it will probably be lighter... I haven't blown mine up yet (haha) running a 7800 rev limiter, and a lot of the blower cars are running higher than that (8200+). And other than one stroker car I haven't seen anyone else reference other rods. The're not a weak point.

The biggest obstacles here are:

(A) transmission -- since you're using the SHO one. Put in quaife for sure. Third gear will die eventually once it is boosted, unless you buy a set of the HD gearsets, which is $6k, I believe.

(B) detonation -- with a lower CR motor and moderate boost and a good intercooler this probably can be dealt with, but don't expect the motor to last long if it is doing this.

500hp is doable, but I don't think the trans will last long... On a stock motor (no cams or intake work) you're talking about 400+ ft.lbs of torque.

Not sure when you'll be able to use that 500hp on a 1500lb car. Are you planning on running slicks at the dragstrip? You'll need new axles for that (for sure), and 3rd gear will probably go in a hurry. Might do better shooting for a high-revving motor with cams and intake work with 6-7psi of boost. Should be good for 420hp, though you end up having to buy more parts.

Where did you find the kit car? Have you thought about mating the engine to a different transmission?

i should have probly said i have a ZF tranny lol so that wont be a problem, my kit car i got just as a body so more of a body, its an older avenger body made by fibre fab, i am tempted now by getting the 3.2 rods then getting je or somthing to make me a set of like 8.5:1 pistons, how much did the custom pistons cost?

It's built on a Fiero chassis. I have more pics if you want.

almost exactly like that but the engine will not be inline with the wheels but like a rear wheel drive front engine but in the back, like an actual mid engine car, and it will have full tube chassie
