I have a '93 sho automatic. When the car shifts into overdrive, it starts a bucking motion (hesitation). If I give more gas it smooths out. Does anyone have some advice where I might look to find the source of the problem? It just starting doing this about two weeks ago. Thanks, Bill

Do you think the problem is engine or transaxle-related? Without more detail, I will surmise that the problem is related to engine rpm and load and a resultant spark misfire. At this point, I will inquire if you have seen the CHECK ENGINE light or retrieved any error codes. If there are no codes pointing to a portion of the ignition system (CID, CPS, DIS, etc.), then the problem is likely the spark plugs, plug wires or contaminants in the spark plug wells (water, oil, etc.).

I don't know if it's the engine or transaxle. I'm hoping that it's not the torque converter going out.

As I stated in the previous post, it only jerks or bucks when it shifts into overdrive at low rpms, around 2,000, but smooths out with some gas.

I haven't seen any check engine lights go on since I've owned the car (three years). It has 119,000 miles on it and was tuned at 110,000 by the previous owner.

About a month ago, I had a water pump and cam tensioner replaced. I don't know if the problem is related to that work. If it continues, I will take it back to the mechanic to see what he thinks. Thanks for your response. Bill
