So we had a real snow storm here in NY. Up to about a foot so far with less than 15 ft visibility (still) and of course I had to take out the SHO. First thing I did was take my tune off and went back to stock (dont ask why just something I wanted to do) and I was off. I have the OEM Michelen rubbers and they are absolute garbage in anything but asphalt. My next mod will be some pretty studded Nokians with some cheap 18s. How is everyone else fairing in the snow? This is a live picture taken at the time of the posting from my security cameras of the snow.

Doing great in NJ, put a locking differential in my Bronco a week ago. ;)
SHOs get parked for a while with this much snow, think they are calling for 18"+ by tomorrow morning.

We've had a bit of snow ourselves here in the Chicagoland area the last week in half or so....

I de-tuned my SHO to the Livernois Stage 3 and I'm still roll'n on the stock 20's (tires and rims)....

I've noticed some obvious traction issues, but it seems as long as you're being reasonable in your acceleration, and taking it easy on curves, the AWD functions just fine for the most part.

I may consider a winter set of steelies and/or winter tires for next winter, but my concern with those is that most tire mfg'ers recommend NOT driving winter tires in temps that near, or exceed 50 degrees.

The way Chicago weather swings, we could have upper 40's low 50's and rain one day, then the next it could be single digits and icy and snowy.....

So I'd beat myself silly constantly swapping out sets of tires/rims as the weather dictates.



thats part of the reason why i prefer to use high performance winter tires where i am

it allows me to still use it when there is no snow but still have better braking power on cold dry roads than stock

the stock michelins aren't that bad but once it gets to -14c they will turn to hockey pucks easily

Theres no need for studded tires. 18" wheels with Blizzak lm70's. With slush on the ground I could put the pedal to the floor and get zero spin. In snow covered roads I had to try hard to make the wheels spin. Spinning out on purpose is extremely difficult unless you have ice on the ground.

The snow just let up here in Queens.

22" on the ground, 4' snow drifts, and one immobilized NYC. Shit sucks.

This storm was crazy. We ended up getting a thunderstorm at the same time as the snow along with a tornado somewhere. Just want to add that I got stuck pulling the SHO out of the driveway in about 6 inches of snow. I guess lowering it right before the snow was a bad idea.

I'm about to get started on digging out the Jeep.

And by digging, I mean shifting into 4Lo and driving out of the parking space. My neighbors hate it when I do that. :evilgrin:

Going to work this morning I hopped in my wifes Gwagen and threw on the locking diffs and backed over 3 feet of snow. Love that thing.

LOL - We both have "V"'s, both have SHO's and both HAD GL's... why did you need to go and get the G? LOL!

I've slapped on a set of Michelin X-Ice on the SHO, makes a big difference. The stockers are total crap.

Ha, you mean had V's. I got rid of mine, hated it. What kinda GL you have? Im trying to sell the snow tire setup I had off of it. I got a G55 last week, its so awesome. Has the exhaust note of an old muscle car.

Not surprised , summer Michelins are overpriced , hard walled , hard rubber tires. Plus they are noisy.

They were that way 10 years ago , and as I saw on my new Fusion , they havnt changed.

But everyone knows that all season tires are in reality 3 seasons. Specially if you receive more that a foot of snow each year.

Do you guys think I would have a rubbing issue if I put a 245/50/20 tire on my lowered car? I can get Nokians in that size but they are about the same price as getting a set of Blizzaks with rims.

The stock tires did fine for me in the light snow we had there in MD.

2 feet of snow they got is not light by any means.


Way2evil I don't think it would rub, but why not get an extra set of wheels? This way if you accidentally curb them or get a scratch it's no big deal. I like having thicker sidewalls as it helps absorb the bumps a little better but it does make it handle different.

The only all season tires that are worth anything are the Nokian WRs, and they have an M+S rating.
