broken cams

so there is a sho here for sale with broken cams its really nice but do the cams generally break on SHO's im thinking of getting it its a 95 5spd how hard is it to do the cams etc i know that there a non interefernce motor so the valves prolly rnt broken

The cam issue is only on 96-99 SHOs.

I would be SHOCKED to see a broken cam in a V6 car, take your dad.

Unless they mean worn, because I have seen a few badly worn lobes, but actually snapped, I really doubt it.

Also honestly, if your dad is a mechanic, why not bring him along when you buy any car no matter the conditions?

ya i usually do see i know a good amount but hes had ALOT of expereince hes 50 and hes been working on cars scince he was 15 but if it is a broken cam where can i get some mtx cams

I would be shocked if it was a broken cam shaft.... But hey stuff happens, I would like to see the pics. Take a camera please!

Yeah, I've never seen a broken cam in a V-6 before. And even so, it's not hard to find used cams for cheap, and it's not even that hard to replace them. Search the classifieds for parts cars or just post up a WTB, I've no doubts there are several SHOforum members with parts or parts cars that they can send your way.

If the cam is actually broken, find out HOW it happened, if for no other reason than because I'd want to make sure nothing else is busted.

Odds are that the owner doesn't know what is wrong; never heard of broken cams in the V6; I bet it spun a rod bearing and the owner is speculating what the problem is.

He could mean that the timing belt broke. That's possible.
