My anteanna broke through the car wash the other day because it does not go down all the way. Anyone know how I go about replacing this? Through the trunk somehow? How much does a new one cost? Can I get in online anywhere? Thanks for the help!!

I bought a replacement from Ford that wasn't too expensive. It had a printed sheet of install directions with it.

Thanks for not letting me be the only one that does this and is crazy enough to post about it, I did it this summer, and I looked at replacing it with another power antenna but then found that the little black stubby rubber one was much better and all of $10 at your local Auto Zone, BUT you'll also have to go to your local Junk yard and get a stationary base, if you have a pick-your- part they shouldnt charge more then $5 or $10 for the base, I'm much happier with this set up because this way I know I'll never do it again.

You can find replacements on ebay for cheap. I think I paid like $12.

You just yank the rest of the mast out and there should be a long plastic belt attached at the bottom. When you get the replacement mast it comes with the belt attached and you just feed it down the hole. The ant. motor winds it back into the housing and you should be all set. I replaced mine like this. 2 1/2 yrs later and it's still good.

Okay so I got my new antenna and installed it and it still sticks up like 4" when the motor stops with the radio off. Does the cord that it comes with need to be shortened or something? I am pretty sure I have it pushed inside the car all the way also. I tried installing it up a couple of times and it doesn't seem to go down any farther. I'm confused?? Any advice??

Usually part of the nylon cord will break off inside the motor. You'll have to take the housing apart and remove the broken piece.

What he said. Some of the cord probably snapped off inside the housing.

I took mine apart and it is not difficult to do. Remove the unit from the trunk and open it up. There's lots of lubricant in there, so have something handy to clean your hands with. There might even be pointers on how to do this on the v8sho.com site.

So last night I took the motor apart and found no broken pieces in it. I cleaned it out and it seems to be working fine but the antenna still sticks up like 4 inches yet. I am confused and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Is it a timing issue with it? If I cut the cord then it will not go up all the way then correct? Any more suggestions? I don't know why this is so difficult.
