The rotors were off for a few months, now the front brakes make noise while the car moves usually. It appears they have a little rust on them. Any way to fix it without replacing them?

Thanks

Unless the rust is unusually deep, the pads should remove them in just a couple of braking cycles. If the rust is deeper, the rotor is probably shot. You could try using a extra fine grit (800+) sandpaper on the rotors, but a rythmic squeek is usually indicative of something else, namely a warped rotor, sticking caliper or slide pins, or loose pads.

I was slightly in a hurry out the door when I originally posted this message. Basically the front brakes make a slight oscillating noise most of the time (it has gotten less and less after driving it). They squeak just a bit when braking.

We just got done with a clutch job that took a while to complete. When reinstalling the calipers, I did accidently pop the pads out, but then reinstalled them. There is NO overheating of the brakes (no glowing rotors or hot rims) as far as I can see and they stop a lot better than when I first took the SHO for a spin.

I'm guessing that some of the few months worth of accumulation might have to wear off... hopefully they will return to normal?
