Hi everybody!
Today I got to brake ******* wet road, and ABS kicked in. Since that, I felt my pedal to be softer. Shortly after, the Brake light turned on (e-brake one, but the switch is unplugged at the e-brake pedal) and the brake pedal was defenatly way down, with no stopping power, almost.
So I stopped, and I saw white fumes coming out of the hood, and it smelled like brake fluid. I was not far from home so I drove back carefully, with engine braking trying to avoid the brake pedal. At home I opened the hood, with the engine idleing, I had someone to press the pedal while I was looking down here. And I heard a psssss sound (fluid was spilling out from a crack or something) I did not see where exactly it was, but it was close to the master cylinder, and it spilled on something hot cause it was smoking. Now the oil level is damn low (but not empty) and I will check everything tomorrow hopefully if the rain stops.

But do you have any ideas what it could be on a 11 years old car, that when ABS kicked in caused a leak in the system ?

For now I drive my mom's altima 2.4L equipped with a automatic slushbox.

BTW: Someone can move it to Emergency forum ? I think it belong there.

I don't know about the abs, but when you push down the brake pedal and it goes to the floor and the car doesn't really stop then your losing pressure in the braking system I think. You may have a bad brake line. If it is close to the master cylinder, then it may be the octopus brake line cluster and you can't buy those new. If that is what went bad, you will have to get one from someone off of here or at a junkyard. If the cluster of lines looks rusty then it is most likely the cause. I went to drive my car one day and the pedal went to the floor and my car would barely stop.

Pedal goes to the floor but I'm losing oil when I press the pedal, the reservoir is empty.
