I got in my car this morning and hit the brakes down the driveway and they basically went to the floor. The pedal goes far but then it stops. The master cylinder sill has alot of fluid so I dont think there is a leak. What other things could cause this?? Is there any plugs that could have came undone? Also I bled the brakes a couple of weeks ago.

Mine was due to the sensor/switch under the master cylinder, it also made my cruise control useless.

Ok.. what is this switch called? Did your brakes all of a sudden go to the floor?

I don't know the exact name, but it cost $20 from the local dealer. I can get you a part number if needed.

And yes, it happened all of the sudden, out of nowhere. At the end of the pedal, it barely engaged the brakes, but not anything near helping to stop the car. Some times I could pump them like 2-3 times, and it would work but sink to the floor after a few seconds. Luckily for that, that was the only way I stopped the car with the help of the e-brake pedal as well.

Sounds like a dead master cylinder to me - that is exactly what happened when half of the MC failed in my car. If the car pulls to 1 side or the other (due to 1 front and 1 rear brake working) then it is most definitely a dead master cylinder.

i bled them again today and theyre better.. there not real good so maybe the MC is "half" broke.
I also ran the ABS codes and got:
17 (Reference Voltage Problem)
22 (LH Front Inlet Valve)
23 (LH Front Outlet Valve)
24 (RH Front Inlet Valve)
25 (RH Front Outlet Valve)
31 (LH Front Sensor)

I know that the front left wheel sensor is cut for some reason.. Could this be causing the other codes?? Also i thought that I heard that the ABS system shuts itself if it has a fault..
