It might be something simple like an abs ring according to these guys, so I wouldn't give up yet just take a look around and it might be a 5 dollar part thats giving you problems:cool:

ok...both the exciter rings are there...i have noticed lately tho...that the pedal comes back all the back like it should when i let off, and that im thinking that just "somehow" the abs must be acting up...because it adds a SIGNIFICANT amount of braking..wheather im steadily slowing down or sometimes when i let off the brakes (slow speeds only ALL this happens) :oogle:

no...i cant run codes if my light isnt up can i???

you check engine light doesnt work? Also you can run codes with a code reader it will read the codes form the computer and display them digitally, I think walmart might have them and their pretty cheap as well IIRC.

How about you start at the most simple part? Check your pads/rotors for significant wear. My dad's GL did this to me just this week. As i slowed down, i would gradually let off of the brake to keep from stopping suddenly. At this time, the brakes would make a clicking "ratcheting" sound and just before the stop (5mph or so) the car would **** to a hault. Turns out that the pads were worn down and sticking to the rotors.

um..lol...i just replaced pads and rotors and tierod ends(not that-that has anything to do with abs i guess)...and i think i may have even stated that in one of my posts :dig: but anyways, My check engine light and abs do come on when ign is Intially on, but then do away once it's running (like it should)...thats y im kinda thinkin no codes will sho up if no light is presemt(with all bulbs in working condition) lol .....Unless its different on a sho...i dunno...?? im gonna pull that harness off the abs computer box thing later today if it clears up(been rainin alot lately and snowed a little too) :thumb:

Did you turn the axles all the way around while looking? Also are the sensors lined up to the rings? It only take a small split in the ring to widen the gap. It is best if you can monitor wheel speeds to determine which wheel it is. It also could be a rear one (Not likely but possible). I honestly believe this is your issue. I have worked on many SHO's and other Fords with the exact problem you have. It normally will not throw a abs code if this is the cause. Because a slower wheel speed is seen as normal in some conditions resulting in abs actuation. That is why if you dont see anything wrong you need to monitor wheel speed.

they do sell the exciter ring separately. you have to clean the axle and heat the new ring up to fit it on the axle you could also just buy a axle it is up to you.

ok..thats cool...i didnt know they were sold seperately. Could i be redneck and put the new ring in the oven for like an hour for it to expand? is it one piece or two?? just curious...as it seems like i probably have a cracked/split ring

it doesnt always throw a CE light for every code, there are stored codes in the KAM of the ecu. Run the codes and see if anything comes up.
