Okay, i've had it. Once again my brake pads are toast. I admit i've had been ******* them a few times but generally im VERY easy on them. This will be the 3rd time in a year that i will be replacing them, but this time theres no way im going stock...unless of course the brakes are under warranty. So i replace my brake pads about an average of 3 times a year, you guys?

You didn't mention how many miles in between pad changes, but 15-20K on stock pads (with 'normal' driving) is common. If you're wearing them faster than that, you might have rotors out of true, or calipers hanging up, etc.

Boy 15-20k dont sound normal to me unless you're racing or something. I get 40-50k out of mine. I use the standard raybestos semimetallics.

Get the Performance Friction Carbon Metallics from AutoZone for around $30 with a lifetime replacement warranty. If you wear them out, you get a new set. I use mine hard too, but they last about 50,000 miles. I'm on my seventh set. You probably have either something wrong with your rotors (very rough finish) or really poor pads.

The OEM Ford pads in the '96 size (598) are very good pads. I get about 40k out of them and no fade, little dust.

I always purchase the cheapy rotors from Autozone with the Carbon Metallic brake pads. My front pads usually last around 30K miles. They would last a lot longer if the rotors would stopping warping. My rear brake pads last about double the mileage. I do a lot of highway driving if that makes a difference.(i.e.30K/year)
