...mainly in 1st and 2nd gears, but is now starting to come on in 3rd. i thought this was related to using a non-ABS halfshaft on the drivers' side, but its still happening even after replacing with the correct part.

from a stand-still, while i'm on the gas in 1st, the brake light is on...

...i let off the gas and shift to 2nd and it goes off.

...back on the gas in 2nd and it's back on.

rinse and repeat.

i have noticed that i have considerably more brake dust on the drivers' side front wheel than passenger side...but haven't found anything visibly wrong.

i'm going to be doing the '96 upgrade soon, so haven't worried about it too much, but it's starting to bug me.

anyone have any ideas?

btw, fluid is fine and ebrake is disengaged.

Your brake pads are worn down and the light is coming on because your brake fuild is low.

My emergency brake pedal lost the little black pad that makes contact with the switch (NOT the pad you put your foot on) and is always on now. It could be that your pad is worn or missing causing the pedal to only make intermittent contact with the switch.

it's definitely not the fluid...as i mentioned, it's at full level. i wouldn't doubt the pads are worn down though, but not enough to cause any major damage...they're not gone yet.

interesting idea on the pad though, i'll definitely check that tonight and let you guys know.

thanks for the replies.

ok, that's what all that black goop is...what's left of the pad. =) i've had that on my last two SHOs and had no idea where it was coming from.

excellent guess, but that's not what's causing the light. i was able to put a replacement "pad" in to make sure the switch was depressed and it still did the same thing...maybe there's something else up with my brake system that's causing the fluid to sit in the resevoir, but not pulling it all the way into the lines / calipers...

...i'm confused. =(

i third this... i just disconnected the wire going to the switch on the e brake pedal so the light wasnt on until i could properly repair it. it wasnt a steady on, mine flickered a lot and was really annoying.

i appreciate the responses. as it turns out...i'm an idiot. =)

my definition of full and the car's were a bit skewed. i overfilled the thing and, of course, the light has stopped coming on during acceleration.

DUH.

thanks again, guys.
