Ok, a month ago the crusie didn't shut off when I hit the brakes, and I noticed rear lights were not working right either. Replaced the switch on the brake pedal, and all seemed ok but the same symtoms are back. Sometimes the brake light switch works, other times it doesn't. Electrical connector looks fine, no damage to it or melting. I have searched around on here a bunch but can't figure out what elese could be the problem. It's an 89.

Check for an intermittent wire in brake lamp switch connector's harness adjacent to the connector. The wire can fail inside the insulation leading to intermittent operation.
