Well I was cruising at 95 mph making good time to my college and then I hit something don't know what it was but it broke my tire all the way though. Since i didn't have a camera handy i drew a picture.

Tire

Of course my socket breaks when i try to take off the tire so i get a ride to an auto store buy a new one and get the donut on and start my way back to college i had lost a side panel to the car no problem though. Almost hit bambi ended up crossing a few lanes to aviod it. Finally I get to a tire dealer and fit a new tire to the car all seems well ad then i see my brake light on and from what it seems the front drivers side "which had the blow out" brake is possibly out haven't really had time to check anything out real good since most of thee night was spent unpack my junk for college. just wondering if you guys would have any suggestions for what to look for when I check things out in the morning. The blow out was kinda harsh and just wanted to know what it might have damaged when it went. Any help would be much apricated.

Edit: Oops and sorry i just realized that i have posted in the wrong section should have been in the help and matinece section. misclick to tired and angry i guess.

holy crap... it would have had to be a damned severe impact to destroy the tire like that. It might have been a metal piece.. possibly an esploded truck tire. Don't worry about the misposting. One of the mods will move it... I'm sure they'll understand.

As for the brakes... well, when you get down there I would check real closely: the brake line (obviously), from the hardline coming into the wheelwell to the connection with the rubber line, the bracket, and the connection to the caliper. I would check the rotor for cracking/obvious warping.

I would check the caliper for any cracking/chips missing. I would also check the CV axle, make sure none of the boots are torn/ripped. Make sure the ABS ring is intact (no cracks/chips). Make sure the sensor is not damaged or bent, and make sure the wire from the ABS sensor is intact. Make sure the strut isn't leaking or bent, and check the entire hub for cracks or warpage. Also, check the studs. Chances are good you might have messed one up.

Your wheel bearing may have taken a beating too; I would do the 12/6 o'clock wiggle test to make sure there's no play.

And for God's sake, drive slower!

Well i checked the brakes today and from what i had seen they look just like they did before the blow out and they seem to be working now but still no idea why the light would still be on. All the lines and wires seemed to be intact and nothing looked dinged or bent so idk. Thanks for the advice though.

Low brake fluid level or an e-brake pedal hanging too low will cause the light to be on as well.
